Right up front our author declares that 'whoever deciphers the meaning of these sayings will not die'. There is a clear steer here that if the reader assimilates the deeper meanings behind the sayings then our dying process becomes something different. In my book 'Thomas:The Unitive Gospel' I suggest that there are distinct themes that emerge from the 114 sayings and which fulfil this promise. Here are a few examples.
