A Very Different Gospel
The 114 sayings contain no chronological narrative, no miracles, and no mention of a virgin birth. Instead we are presented with a very human Jesus doing very human things in a world that mostly wasn't listening. It is a Jesus closer to the original source.
In Thomas Jesus asks us to know ourselves in a different way, to remember a forgotten self. We are encouraged to unravel what we have become, to refind that which we originally were. This is a new way of being, one that alludes to a cosmic wholeness, and to a kingdom that is here and now.
